When the weather is gloomy, it’s hard to feel motivated throughout the week. That’s where the power of brights comes in! I find that throwing on a bright blouse, jacket, or accessory, can completely turn your day around. Hot pink and orange automatically make me think of Spring and Summer, and let’s face it, we all love those few months out of the year. Sunshine, patios, picnics, barbecues, and pool time — need I say more? Fortunately, Spring is just around the corner, but until then I’ll have to settle for bright layers!
Blouse: Charming Charlie, loving these blouses (one, two, three), Pants: Banana Republic, similar pants here, Clutch: BCBGeneration via Dillard’s, Shoes: BCBGeneration, Sunglasses: Franco Sarto via T.J.Maxx
I wore this little number to work yesterday. The peter pan collar, cobalt pants, and multicolor clutch are quickly becoming favorites in my wardrobe. Not to mention, I just love outfits that are appropriate for a corporate setting, yet cute enough to wear for drinks afterwards. Be sure to stash a pair of black flats under your desk (especially if you are going to be on your feet all day)!
Blazer: Forever21, similar style here, Blouse: T.J.Maxx, Jeans: Guess by Marciano, Heels: Nine West, similar here, Watch: Michael Kors, Clutch: French Connection via Dillard’s, still available at Nordstrom, Earrings & Gold Rings: Vintage, Infinity Ring: Urban Outfitters
Mixing prints and patterns can be pretty tricky sometimes. I don’t mix prints as much as I would like, but I’m working on getting out of my comfort zone and challenging myself. Normally, I would choose a neutral clutch for this type of look, but I decided to mix it up and add this oversized optic weave clutch instead. It’s hard to tell in these pictures, but this clutch has a cobalt zipper that adds a playful touch to the outfit. If mixing prints isn’t something that you’re into, then try simply adding a bold patterned clutch. It may turn out better than you expect!
Coat: Victoria’s Secret, Dress: Ross Dress for Less, Tights: T.J.Maxx, Boots: Gianni Bini via Dillard’s (old), but love these, Necklace & Earrings: Niki Designs
Sometimes you just need to steal from your sister’s closet in order to feel inspired. When I saw this brand new houndstooth dress hanging in my sister’s closet, I knew just how I wanted to style it. She reluctantly gave in and let me wear it before she got a chance to, but that’s what sister’s are for right? She’s also the mastermind behind all of my fabulous photos.
Sweater: Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker, Blouse: New York & Company, similar blouse at Kohl’s, Pants: Suzy Shier, similar style at PacSun, Boots: Gianni Bini via Dillard’s, Handbag: Nicole Lee, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelet: Waxing Poetic, Earrings: Niki Designs
The weather here has been calling for lots of layers lately. Adding a collared shirt underneath a sweater dresses the look up, while adding warmth on those chilly days. I prefer to wear collared shirts with a bold print or color, because it really stands out against the neutral knit. If you aren’t one to wear a bold snake print on its own, try layering it first! How do you dress up your casual sweaters?
